Aunt Bessie was a favorite family aunt. Partly because she lived a long time and she stayed in the south (for the most part). Everyone knew Aunt Bessie and her daughter, Florence, who later married a John T. Hartwell from Connecticut. While Bessie's brother, John, stayed in Jacksonville and raised a large family, her baby brother, Robert, and sisters, Mary and Eva, moved away from Florida and were not seen or heard from very regularly. Sister, Ruby, died tragically in 1924 while visiting Aunt Bessie and taking care of her.
