Thaddeus was the son of James Fabius Clark and Penninah Brake, both of Edgecombe County, NC. He married Savenah Turner on January 2, 1879 in Duval County. Together they raised a large family of 4 daughters and 2 sons: Eva, Bessie, Ruby, Mary, John and Robert.

The many friends of Thaddeus J. Clark, 77, will regret to learn of his death at his residence, Sixty-first and Pearl Street, Monday after several months illness. He was a native of Georgia but had lived in this city and county for the past seventy years. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. W. H. Hoyle of Worcester, Mass., Mrs. B. M. Ellis of Huntington, W. Va., Mrs. Walton Gurgainous of Warren, O,; two sons, J. F. Clark of Jacksonville and Robert T. Clark of Palatka; one sister, Mrs. Lou Capp of Jacksonville; sixteen grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Phoenix Park M.E. church, south, and Ezra Lodge No. 67, F. & A.M. of Eastport. Funeral services will be held from Burns and Clymore's funeral home, 45 West Church Street, at 3:30 o'clock this afternoon, Rev. M.E. Myer, pastor of the Phoenix Park Methodist church officiating. Pallbearers will be J.W. Carter, B.S. Marsh, H. M. Evans, W. R. Green, J.M. Bryan and G. L. Bradley. Interment will be in the family plot in Evergreen cemetery beside his wife who died last June.
