Born September 27, 1925, in Spencer, he was the son of Emsley A. "Hap" and Lona J. (Burton) Bastin.
Bob was a Navy Veteran of WWII and a life member of the V.F.W. 604. He was a member of Moose Lodge of Bloomington 1081, and a retired teamster at RCA 135.
Bob was a loving husband, dad and grandfather who drove a truck for Moon Freightliner, Best Beers and RCA.
Survivors include his wife of 61 years, Mary (Roman) Bastin; one daughter, Margie Gregory and her husband Dave; two sons, Steve Bastin and his wife Patty, Michael Bastin and his wife Pam, all of Bloomington; eight grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and several step-grandchildren; four brothers, Phil Bastin and his wife Trudy, Bill Bastin and his wife Carolyn, Jack Bastin and his wife Carol, all of Ellettsville, Jim Bastin and his wife Katie of Sarasota, FL; one sister, Charlotte Robertson of Winter Haven, FL.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Richard "Butch" Bastin and Floyd Bastin.
Services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 10, 2009, at the Allen Funeral Home, 4155 S. Old State Rd. 37, with Pastor Frank Helton officiating.
Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with burial at Valhalla Memory Gardens.
