James Henry Gainous, is a son of Henry and Sarah Porter Gainous, and was born June 21, 1854, in Dooly County, Georgia. He removed to Decatur County in 1855 and December 27, 1877, he married Susan Letitia (Tishi) Logue.

Jim Henry was a farmer and first bought land north of Whigham in the Bunker Hill Community where Tishi had been born and grew up. Later they bought a farm east of Wayside School. Their children were: Gertrude, Austin, Sherwood William, Polly, Dora, Applis, Johnson, Hardy, Jason Moore, Henry, Lulu, and Elmera.

In addition to farming, Jim Henry made tombstones using concrete and special forms. His set of raised wooden letters for writing the sometimes lengthy epitaphs are not owned by one of his great-grandsons. In December 1929, at the age of 75, Jim Henry was hauling cane for making syrup; the mules ran away with the wagon and he died from injuries December 6th. Tishi Died November 21, 1933, and they are buried at Springhill Church where they had been members by transfer since 1887
