Durward "Mick" Snyder, Jr., 80, passed away Sunday, August 23, 2009, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mick was born October 8, 1928, in Des Moines to Durward and Vera (Greene) Snyder. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Mick retired from Meredith in 1982 after 42 years of service. He was a Mason, a member of the N.R.A. and Kingsway Cathedral. Mick enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Mick is survived by his children, Joseph, Michael, Susan Snyder, Doris (William) Cox and Lynell Nicholson; grandchildren, Brandon, Lisa (Dionel), Rosa, Brayton and Joseph Camilo; great-grandchildren, Kendra, Marco, Isabella and Misael. He was preceded in death by his wife, Helen.
