Ephraim Edward Admire was born in Trafalgar, Indiana on December 7, 1861. His parents were James and Elizabeth (Dean) Admire, who had moved to Indiana from Kentucky. He began teaching at the age of 18. On December 23, 1900 he married Philomene E. Herie. He was connected with business schools in Chicago and Detroit, Michigan. In 1904 he came to Cleveland, Ohio and opened the Metropolitan Business College. For two years Mr. Admire was vice president of the West Side Chamber of Industry. He organized and established a prosperous weekly newspaper and was one of the directors of the Majestic Theater. He was a prominent member of the Cleveland Chamber of Commerce, and did much philanthropic and charitable work. His hobbies included bowling, billiards, fishing, athletics and farming. He had a farm consisting of 169 acres located near Aurora. The secret of Mr. Admire's success in the business world was honorable treatment, fair dealings, and promises fulfilled. He was said to be always fair-minded and generous and helpful. He was only fifty-six when he died on March 24, 1918. He was laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery.
