Mary Anne was the daughter of Free Will Baptist missionaries to India, Dr. Jeremiah Phillips, and Mary Anne (Grimditch)Phillips.
She married R. Gilbert Platt(s), MD, Dec. 15, 1866, in Brittany NY. She studied at Whitestown Seminary, NY and Prairie City Academy, Illinois, and New Hampton Seminary, N.H.
They served at missionaries with her extended family in Orissa Province, India, where her husband died at the early age of 34 yrs. They had two children, Clyde P. Platts, M.D., and Daisy F. Platts Horton.
