Raymond J. Beecher, age 73, of 408 N. George St. Rome, died Tuesday, January 12, 1999 in the Syracuse Veteran's Hospital, after a long illness. He was born January 8, 1926 in Verona, the son of Joseph and Caroline Croneiser Beecher. Mr. Beecher was educated in Verona. On July 17th, 1954, he married Ann Sotnik in St. Michael's Ukrainian Catholic Church.

Mr. Beecher was employed at Laribee Wire, Inc., for several years retiring in 1988 and was also self-employed contractor. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during World War 11 in the European and Pacific Theatres. Mr. Beecher was a member if St. Michael's Ukrainian Cathilic churc.

Surviving, besides his wife, are one son, Jim Beecher of Cullman Alabama; three sisters and one brother-in-law, Helen Anderson of Syracuse, Irene Rueger of Rome, Norlene and John Peppe of Berkley Heights, New Jersey; and two brothers and and sisters-in-law, Jordan and Barbara Beecher of Reford, Norman and Evelyn Beecher of Verona. He was predeceased by four sisters, Cora Lince, Mary Shorey, Laura Correa, Rosemary Jasiewicz; and two brothers, Aloysius Beecher and Clarence Beecher.

Funeral servies will be hled at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., Rome, Monday,3:00p. Internment Rome Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home, 1:00 to 3:00pm today. Contributions may be made in his memory to the American Heart Association.
