Elmer Phillip Blattel, 87, of Scott City, MO, died at 10:55 a.m. April 14, 2002, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 2, 1914, in Ancell, MO, son of the late Fred and May Collie Blattel, he was a salesman for Tom's Chips, had been a salesman for Suedekum Hardware, and was manager of a Rhodes 101 Truck Stop before retiring. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and VFW Post 6407 in Scott City, he was also a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
On April 25, 1937, he married Evelyn V. Hoffman who preceded him in death on July 29, 1992.
He and Alleen Anna Hoffman Wilhelm were married Aug. 18, 1994, and she survives of the home.
Other survivors include: two daughters, Barbara Prenger and Mary Lou Reynolds; one stepdaughter, Pat Burton; two brothers, Jim Blattel and Bob Blattel; one sister, Doris Holshouser; six grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, three great-grandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
One brother and one sister also preceded him in death.
Visitation was held at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City where parish prayers were scheduled.
A funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. David Coon officiating.
Burial followed in the St. Joseph Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers included: Ken Burton and John Lindeman.
