THOMASBORO - Richard L. Wood, 66, of Thomasboro passed away at 8:55 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at his home.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 28, 2008, at Patterson Cemetery in St. Joseph. Burial will be in Patterson Cemetery in St. Joseph.
Freese Funeral Home, 302 E. Grand Ave., in St. Joseph is handling arrangements.
Mr. Wood was born Oct. 31, 1942, in Ogden, the son of Aden and Ruth Barnett Wood. He married Carolyn Wise on May 23, 1993, in Urbana. She preceded him in death on Oct. 11, 2007.
He is survived by two daughters, Tami Durham of Springfield and Christina Schwab of Troy; a son, Rich Wood of Springfield; two stepdaughters, Tonya Trudeau of Rankin and Michelle Cler of Penfield; 13 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and two brothers, David Wood of Chicago and Bill Wood of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by a brother, three sisters and his parents.
Mr. Wood was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He worked for IBC Butternut Bread for 18 years and at the University of Illinois in grounds and maintenance. He was a lifelong outdoorsman.
