Charles Ivan Arrasmith, 66, of Cuyuga, Ind., peacefully passed away at 12:55 pm Saturday, Sept. 3, 1994, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Danville. Born Dec. 9, 1927, in the Henderson Chapel area, he was the son of Pearl S. and Minnie J. (Kyger) Arrasmith, who preceded him in death. Charles is survived by his wife of 45 years, Doris Maxine (Lewis) Arrasmith, his daughter, Pamela Gayle, and her husband, Carroll E. Donald, Jr., of Fayettville, Ark., and his son, David Arrasmith, and his wife, Rhonda Dunkerly, of Cuyuga, Ind. He was grandpa to Carroll E. Donald III and Kyra Amanda Donald of Fayetteville, Ark., and Samantha Jo and Jordan Lea Arrasmith of Cayuga. Also surviving: his brother, Thomas Alva Arrasmith of Perrysville, his sister, Charlotte Shaw of Covington, several nieces and nephews and his very special Heaven-sent friends, Don and Dorothy Newlin of Dana. He graduated from Newport High School and the Indiana State Police Academy at Indiana University. He was in World War II serving in the Army in Japan. He was owner/operator of the former Cayuga Cleaners for many years. After retiring from the Indiana State Police, he was employed by Uniroyal at the Newport Army Ammunition Plant. After retiring from Uniroyal, he worked for Mason Hanger at the same location. He enjoyed reading, repairing small engines and wood working. He built the home in which his children were raised. He was a member of the Perrysville Masonic Lodge No. 302 and the Cayuga American Legion Post No. 263. He was devoted to his family. God gave us a wonderful husband and father, and we loved him. Services were held at Deverter Brothers Funeral Home in Cayuga with the Rev. Andy Spencer officiating. Burial was at the Thomas Cemetery in Newport with graveside military rites by the Cayuga American Legion Post.
