Born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of Stephen and Anna Wascko Sumego. Her father was an immigrant from Czechoslovakia in 1911 and later a coal miner in southwestern Pennsylvania. Anna was the second of 11 children and was married to Albert J. Freiberg (1912-November 18, 1986). She was the mother of Alexander, Albert, and Patricia and a sister of Mary Sheranek, Catherine Bellish, Martha Guy, Helen Magerko, Pauline Grace, Alverta Smargie, Joseph Sumego, Stephen Sumego Jr., Richard Sumego, and Edward Sumego. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Mantua. Anna passed away at Briarfield of Cortland Nursing Home in Cortland, Ohio in 1998 when she was 83 years old.
