Naomi Helena Percy Lathrop was killed in a tragic automobile accident in Pike, Mississippi, USA on June 13, 1987 and was pronounced dead at the scene. She and family members were returning to their home in Weyanoke, West Felciana, Louisiana, USA. after a visit to Alabama. She was the daughter of Frank Sims Percy,Sr.and Naomi Fisher Percy. Mrs. Lathrop was born in Plettenberg at Greenwood Plantation, the family home. She was predeceased in death by her parents, a grandson, Frank Percy Lathrop, Jr. in 1965 a brother Harmon Wallace Percy in 1972 and Frank Sims Percy, Jr. in 1983.She is survived by her husband Frank Pratt Lathrop. She is survived by her brother, James Fisher Percy and sister, May Fisher Percy deLaureal. She is also survived by four children, Frank Percy Lathrop of Houston, TX. and his wife, Shirley Davis, their children Christopher Scott Lathop, Melanie Leigh Lathrop, Frank Davis Lathrop and Colin Andrew Lathrop; James Randolf Lathrop of Corpus Christi, TX., his wife Marie Pollingue and their children, Marie Elise Lathrop and James Pratt Lathrop, Elizabeth Lathrop Phelan of Beaumont, TX. her husband Anthony McDade Phelan, Jr. and grand-daughter Erin Elizabeth Lee, and Patricia Lathrop Walker of Ft. Lewis, Washington and her husband, William Otis Walker, Jr. M.D. and their children Lathrop Otis Walker and Kate Walker. Mrs. Lathrop was a graduate of St. Joseph's Academy and LSU in Baton Rouge, LA. After her children had completed their education, she entered LSU at age 55 to obtain her M. E. in Early Childhood Development. She was a teacher at Tunica before she retired. She and her husband were charter members of the area "Civic Club." Burial was June 17, 1987 at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, celebrant was Rev. Jules Leblanc. She was buried at Grace Episcopal Cemetery in the Lathrop family plot. Her parents rest nearby. She practiced her Catholic faith and lived the Gospels. She is survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She will live forever in the hearts of those who loved her.
