An operations manager with Conveying and Mining Equipment in Houston and a resident of Katy, Texas, he died Tuesday, Dec. 20, 2011, at 5:30 a.m. peacefully at home from complications due to cancer. He was 68, born March 1, 1943, in Baton Rouge.

He was a U.S. Army First Calvary veteran and received two Purple Heart medals.

Visitation at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, service, conducted by Monsignor Green.
Burial to follow in Grace Episcopal Church Cemetery.

Survived by his wife, Margaret Byrne Lathrop; daughter, Melanie Lathrop Peralta; sons, C. Scott Lathrop, Frank Davis Lathrop and Colin Andrew Lathrop; sisters, Elizabeth Lathrop Phelan and Patricia lathrop Walker; brother, James Randolph Lathrop; and grandchildren, Frank Daniel Lathrop, Lara Elizabeth Lathrop, Carter Davis Lathrop, Christopher Michael Lathrop, Reagan Hansen and Parker Leslie Lathrop.

He was preceded in death by his father, Frank Pratt Lathrop; mother, Naomie Percy Lathrop; and son, Frank Babers Lathrop.

Honorary pallbearers are Robert Bordelon, Charles Broussard, Laurie Fisher, Robert Fisher, John Hamilton, Robert Hardy, Colin Lathrop, Frank Davis Lathrop, C. Scott lathrop, Frank Percy III, Clayton "Mack" Perkins, Robert Pigot, Larry Templeton and George Woodside.

He was a graduate of West Feliciana High School and LSU. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the American Cancer Society
