Mrs. William Shields, one of the best known ladies in Monroe county, died at her
home near Moore's Creek Wednesday, of lung trouble, after a brief illness. Mrs.
Shields was 76 years of age and a lady loved and respected by all who knew her.
She leaves a husband and nine children to mourn her demise--Mrs. A. J. Lampkins
of this city; Mrs. Phillip Bond of Morgantown; Mrs. Allen Carter, Mrs. John
Wampler, Mrs. Hale, David, James, William and John W. Shields.
The funeral occurred from the Friendship Church, the interment being at Shield's
Cemetery.
She married William Henry Harrison Shields
