Henry came to Vancouver in 1849 via Hawaii aboard the "Massachusettts" as part of the 1st Regiment U. S. Artillery. Henry raised the first American flag at Fort Vancouver in 1849.
Henry served in the Clark County Rangers under Captain William Kelly, he enlisted April 6, 1856.
