Death Claims Pioneer Scion
Mrs. Charlotte Morse Kelly, 88, a descendant of early Vancouver, Wash., pioneers, died at a local hospital Monday. Mrs. Kelly was born in Vancouver December 2, 1859 the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Morse. She had lived in Portland for 65 years. Mrs. Kelly was the granddaughter of Esther Short, who with her husband operated Vancouver's first store. Her father, Henry Morse, planted the first United States flag at Vancouver Barracks.
Surviving is one daughter, Mrs. Fred L. Olson, 1903 N. E. Hancock street, with whom Mrs. Kelly made her home.
Private services will be at J. P. Finely & Sons funeral home at 2:30 p. m., Wednesday. Interment will be in Riverview cemetery.
