Claire Roderick Bassett

Claire Roderick Bassett, 48, died at her home in Gillette, July 11, 1983, of undetermined causes.

She was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Elmer and Genesee Roderick. She married Matthew Bassett Oct. 17, 1951, in the LDS Temple in St. George, Utah

They moved to Rosemead, Cal., where they lived until 1979 when they moved to Gillette. They have lived there for the past four years. She and her husband were both employed by the Campbell County School District. She was a member of the Gillette Third Ward of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Survivors include her husband; her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Roderick of Salt Lake City; three sons, Matthew Delray Bassett of Houston, Texas, Samiel Fay Bassett of Encinitas, Cal., and David Appleton Bassett of Gillette; three daughters Genesse Lee Kooopman of Rosemead, Cal., Bobbi Jo and Michelle Renee Bassett, both of Gillette; one brothr Dee Roderick of Salt Lake City; three sisters, Carol Maples and VaLois Bybee, both of Salt Lake City, and Luane Anderson of Springville, Utah; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be Friday at 10 a.m. in the Gillette Chapel of the LDS Church. Graveside services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Byron Cemetery with Elder Ted Mickelson officiating. Viewing will be from 7 to 9 at p.m. at Haskell Funeral Home Friday evening. Donation to the Claire Bassett Memorial Fund may be made to members of the family.
