Orlena Loughmiller was born at New Albany, Indiana, April 24, 1848. When she was six years old the family moved to Kansas, settling first at Easton where they lived a few years before coming to the Bucks Grove communiity. Her parents lived on what is now the Frank Kroth farm, and here she grew to womanhood.
She was married to Joseph Beach on January 16, 1870 to which union were born five children. Frank Beach of Elk City, Oklahoma, Aurelia Beach, Fred Beach and Mrs. Harley Davis of Havensville and Clarence Beach of Grand Junction, Colorado.
Upon the death of her husband on November 1, 1902, Mrs. Beach moved to Havensville, where she made her home until her death on October 19, 1926. Age 78 years, 8 months and 26 days. Beside her children, she leaves to survive her two brothers, Tillman Loughmiller of Avoca and Geo. F. Loughmiller of Kansas City, MO., twenty-two grandchildren, two great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. Two brothers Charles and Robert Loughmiller and three sisters, Mrs. Henry Kroth, Mrs. Victoria Brownlee and Mrs. Eva Beach precede her in death.
The date and place of her conversion is not known but it was no doubt in childhood at home, where the family worshiped daily. She was one of the first members of the Bucks Grove church where she attended until moving to Havensville. In her death the community loses a fine Christian character.
