The funeral of Mrs. Margaret Louisa Goltra, widow of Dr. Isaac V. Goltra, whose death occurred at her residence, 506 West Monroe street, at 10:30 o'clock Monday evening, Feb. 17, 1913, will be held from the house Thursday morning. Burial service will follow at Oak Ridge cemetery.
In the death of Mrs. Goltra the community loses one of its old residents and one of its best known and respected members, universally loved by all her many friends and relatives.
She was born in Tremont, Ill, July 21, 1841, and was the daughter of John Albert and Ann Maria Jones, who moved to Bloomington in 1864 and from there to Springfield in 1867. Two years later she was married to the late Dr. Isaac V. Goltra in this city. Dr. and Mrs. Goltra resided during the first years after their marriage on his farm at Blue Mound, Ill, but returned to Springfield and established the home on West Monroe street where Mrs. Goltra had resided during the last thirty-three years.
Surviving are her daughters, Mrs. Harry T. Willett and Mrs. Robert Lord of this city; one son, Isaac V. Goltra, jr., of the United States army, stationed at Fort Snelling; her brother, James T. Jones of Springfield; one sister, Mrs. George Hunt, of Winnetka, and grandchild, James Goltra Willett.
Mrs. Goltra had been largely confined to her home during the last year, but had been about the house, apparently in an improved condition on Monday, so that the shortness of her illness on Monday night makes the death an unexpected loss to her relatives and friends and the city of Springfield.
