Sarah Isabel Barlow Call passed peacefully away on Tuesday October 14 the at the home of her son Gilette J. Call of Afton, after suffering for over two years from an accident in which she fell and broke her hip. she has suffered intensely and death came as a relief.
Mrs. Call was born in Bountiful Utah, June 16, 1859. She was the oldest daughter of Lucy Heap and Israel Barlow. Her father was born in Granville, Mass. and her mother was born at Litchfield, England, both being early pioneers of Utah.
She spent her early days in Bountiful, and taught school there for one winter. she was married to Joseph Holbrook Call in the Endowment House at Salt Lake city Utah on June 26, 1879, on her twentieth birthday anniversary.
They lived in Bountiful Utah three years then moved to Chesterfield, Idaho where they lived for six years. While here Sister Call was an active church worker and was Secretary in the Relief Society.
They moved to Star Valley in October 1888. When this Stake was organized in 1892, they also organized a Stake Mutual Board with Martha E. Roberts president and Sister Call as first counselor. They served faithfully together for twenty three years. She was also assistant Secretary in the Afton North ward Relief Society. She was a member of the Stake Genealogy for years. She was keen in her understanding of the work and her records in Genealogy work are very complete and accurate. During her later years she spent much of her time doing Genealogy work and performing ordinances in the temples. She has always kept a daily record of her life.
During the World War she played a prominent part in the Red Cross. She was active in sponsoring this work and worked as one of the directors for several years. During that period she knit dozens of sweaters and socks and supervised the packing of boxes of clothing to be sent to England and France for the refugees.
Joseph H. Call, her husband passed away January 15, 1935, he was 78 years old and she lived to the ripe age of 82 years and 4 months. She has always been a healthy woman enjoying life until her eightieth birthday anniversary when she fell and broke her hip and has been an invalid since.
She was the mother of eleven children, three children and her husband having preceded her in death. The eight children living are: Lois C. Hale, Afton, Lucy I Osmond, Logan, Utah, Gillette J. Call, Roland B. Call, of Afton Irene Allred of Smithfield, Utah; Truman V. Call of Afton, Leone Henry of Ventura, Calif., and Gladys Mallory of Afton. she also leaves two brothers, Granville Barlow of bountiful, Utah and Nathan Barlow of Montpelier, Idaho. She has 32 living grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren.
There was never a day when she didn't have a thought ot make life better for someone.
She was always dependable in whatever she was asked to do. She fulfilled every measure of her calling. Her pleasing personality won her friends in every capacity of life. She was truly a noble character.
