Final Rites Conducted at Englund Chapel
Otto G Olson, 65, prominent Height of Land resident and a Spanish-American War veteran, died Friday at the Fargo Veterans Hospital, where he had been a patient for four days. He was born September 23, 1876 at Ferryville, WI.

On June 30, 1898 he enlisted as a private of Company F of the 4th Infantry regiment of Wisconsin Volunteers for two years, or the duration of the war. He was mustered into service July 11, 1898 at Camp Douglas, WI. After spending part of the winter at Anniston, AL, he was honorably discharged for “service honest and faithful” February 28, 1899. After his discharge he worked in lumber camps in Minnesota, Wisconsin and Montana, later taking a homestead at White Earth, ND, where he lived four years.

On June 6, 1906 he married Sylvia A Sumner at Boyd, MN. Returning to White Earth, they lived there two years and then moved to Dawson, MN. During 1915 they moved to De Lamere, ND. On September 18, 1931 they moved to their present home near Frazee, MN in Height of Land Township. During the time he had lived near Frazee, he served as road overseer, one year; town clerk, three terms; and school clerk, one term. He was intensely interested in the betterment of schools and in all educational activities.

Funeral services were held at the Englund Funeral Chapel Tuesday afternoon with Mrs. George Shepard officiating at the rites. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers were Bert Clement, Nels Nelson, John Bakke and E. A. Rosenquist of Detroit Lakes; S. A. Olson, Fargo; and Glenn Newing of Frazee.

He leaves Mrs. Olson; a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Nelson, Frazee; Jeanne Potter Olson, a granddaughter who made her home with the family; a half-brother, Earl Campbell in CA; and a half-sister, Mrs. Percy Grass, Ewing, Nebraska.

Relatives and friends from a distance attending the services were M. C. Sumner, Montevideo, MN; Mrs. Percy Grass, Ewing, Nebraska; M/M Perry w. Sumner, Mrs. Sverre Nerasen and son, Curtis, and M/M J. C. Barrett, all of Boyd, MN; Mrs. Chess Barie, Dawson, MN; M/M Thomas Jones, Bemidji, MN; M/M Lowell Cary, Twin Valley; S. A. Olson Fargo, ND; M/M Lee Mills and 2 children, Montevideo; and M/M J. C. Gilbertson, Fergus Falls, MN
