Eva Estelle Cox, 83, of Killen, Ala., died Nov. 7, 2008, at Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence after a brief illness.

She was a member of Lone Cedar Church of Christ and a homemaker.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Warren and her husband, Jim, Quincy, Ill., Emily McDonald, Florence, Ala., and Joan Muns and her husband, Gary, Florence, Ala.; and son, Lt. Col. Matthew Dale Cox, USAF, and his wife, Valerie, Hampton, Va.; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, James Howard Cox; her son-in-law, Jerry McDonald; parents, Carlos Oscar Walker and Lunar Gross-Walker; one sister, Hattie Lee Coffman; and five brothers, John Walker, Marvin Walker, Cleo Walker, Ernest Walker, and Winford Walker.

Visitation will be noon-2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 10, at Greenhill Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow at 2 p.m., with Brother Tim Grigsby and Brother Jack Flowers officiating. Burial will follow in Lone Cedar Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be James Warren, Gary Muns, Charles Cabler, Jim Grigsby, Don Behel and Kevin Grigsby.

Honorary pallbearers are Thomas (Buddy) Walker, Bill Walker and Bill Cox.

Special thanks are extended to those who have worked so hard to care for Mother during the years she suffered with Parkinson's disease. Special thanks go to her church family and neighbors who provided food, care and concern while she was shut-in. Also, thanks to Home Instead and Tamara Hart, who cared for her in her home. Thanks to Dr. Hollis, who was her longtime physician, Dr. Southall and Amanda at ECM emergency room; Dr. Scarborough and Dr. Edsel Holden, who cared for her in the hospital, 6 West nurses, especially Jennifer, Marcy and Sue. Especially thanks to the wonderful staff at Lauderdale Christian Nursing Home, who became like family to her.
