Karen E. Dagestad was born of parents Peter and Ingeborg (Bestul) Brandvold, in Holden Township, Goodhue County, Minnesota, on May 16, 1876. She was baptized and confirmed in the Holden Church and grew up to young womanhood in that community.
On April 3, 1900 she was married at Red Wing, Minnesota to John Dagestad, and they continued to live in the Holden community. Together with her husband she lived at Dennison, Minnesota until 1912, at which time they moved to a farm east of Bagley.
She is survived by her husband, one daughter, Julia, and three sons, Peter, Nels and Alfred, all of Bagley, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Also two brothers, Avle Brandvold of Greenbush, Minnesota, and Rasmus Brandvold of Dennison, Minnesota. One daughter, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.
