John Dagestad, age 91, passed away at the Good Samaritan Home in Clearbrook on Tuesday morning, August 31, 1965. He had been a patient at the home for two years. Mr. Dagestad was born in Norway on April 17, 1874, and came to the United States at the age of 16 and first settled in Goodhue County, Minnesota. He was married in Goodhue County to Karen Brandvold and the Dagestad's came to Clearwater County 52 years ago and farmed in Copley Township for many years. He moved into Bagley in 1939.
Mr. Dagestad is survived by three sons and one daughter: Peter of Bagley, Alfred of Bagley and Nels of Bemidji, and Julia Dagestad of Bagley. One half brother, Knute Madson of Waterloo, Iowa; ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held at the Cease Funeral Home Chapel in Bagley on Thursday, September 2 at 2 p.m. The Rev. C.W. Hanson of Shevlin will officiate and the burial will be made in the Clearwater Lutheran Cemetery of Shevlin.
