Buster Lewis was born the third oldest child to Fletch Lewis and Lula Gilford in January 1910 in Branchville, Milam County, Texas. He was a loving father and grandfather to his children and grandchildren. Upon moving to Texas City, Texas in the mid 1940s he was affiliated with until this death First Missionary Baptist Church.

He resided in Texas City, Texas and spent his last days at the VA Hospital until the time of his death. At the time of his death, he was survived by his loving and devoted wife, Flonnie M Lewis whom he married in 1943 and his daughter Dimple Ray Lewis Caldwell (died 2005) and son, Wilbur G. Lewis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alex Lewis and Amanda Drones Lewis both born in Edgecombe County, North Carolina and died in Milam County, Texas; and, a son, T. C. Lewis (1933-1933) from an earlier and brief marriage.

He was survived by his grand children, Dorinda Denise Caldwell (deceased), Clarence Caldwell Jr, Roslyn Caldwell, Clarinda Gail Caldwell, Natalya Ann Caldwell and Kimberly Dawn Caldwell; and, Melvin Young Lewis, Flornetta "Angel" Robertson and Sascha Rippberger (Frankfurt, Germany) and, in-laws Sam Lewis and Vernia Wells Lewis.

Buster is also survived by his sisters and brothers, Elnora Lewis Hawkins (Mert) of Lamesa, Texas and Lorine Lewis (John L Lewis Sr) of Branchville, Texas; and brothers, Bryant Lewis (Annie) of Odessa, Texas, Charlie Lewis (Emma) of Odessa, Texas and Lonnie Lewis of Hearne, Texas; and an aunt, Annie Bell Lewis Posey of Cameron, Texas.

He is also survived by his mother and father-in-law, Vernia Wells Lewis and Sam Lewis and brother-in-laws, Wilburt Lawson (Meryln) and Hurbert L. Lawson Sr., Close cousins Gladys and Phil Jackson, Marie Garrett and Jean Garrett Brown.

He leaves behind a host of grand children, nieces, nephews, cousins and family friends.

The funeral will be officiated by Rev F.M. Johnson, Senior Pastor, at First Missionary Baptist Church and burial at Houston National Veterans Cemetery arranged by Mainland Funeral Home of West Texas City, Texas.
