Herman was born to George & Ann (Tuttle)Loucks, near Watertown, New York. At age 14 years, his father died leaving him as the main support of his mother, one sister & 5 brothers. In 1879, Herman came to KS & one yr. later bought a farm, where he lived for 50 years.
On Apr. 28, 1882 he was united to Frances Louise Bowles. To this union were born five daughters - Elva, Armida, Zora, Erma & Eunice.
He was an industrious, hard working man, kind hearted & always ready to contribute to any worthy cause.
