John was the son of Silas & Elizabeth (Whitney) Latham and he grew up on family farms in Washington Township and Norwich Township, Franklin County, OH. In about 1887 John was married to Mary Etta Scrimger. The couple resided in Norwich Township & parented at least six children between the years of 1892 & 1909: Clarence William Latham (also buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery), Harry Latham (also buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery), Loren E. Latham (also buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery), Lucy Latham (also buried at Wesley Chapel Cemetery), John Leonard Latham, & Edna E. Latham. John died at the home of his son, Loren, near the town of Hillard, OH.
