Thomas was the only son of Benjamin Patton and Mary Eliza Ashcraft Curtis. He is believed to be buried here along with his sister, Katherine, who died the same year.

There are no stones on this plot, which is shown in the photo here. It is the open hillside area between the rectangular pillar and the two small plot markers. Surviving records show only that it was purchased by B.P. Curtis 13 Feb 1873. A copy of the deed handed down in the Curtis family contains the handwritten notation: "Tommie and Katie buried here."

It is also believed that B. P. Curtis' sister, Martha Jane Curtis McClellan, who died in 1881, may be buried in the same plot.
