J. G. Barton, 81, Of Dudley, Dies; Rites Set Today

J. G. Barton, 81, of Rt. 2 Clyde, Dudley Community, suffered a heart attack at his home Monday morning and was pronounced dead at 11:30 am Monday at Hendrick Memorial Hospital.

Funeral will be held at 3 pm Tuesday in Highway 36 Church of Christ with J. A. Gaston, Church of Christ minister of Del Rio, officiating, assisted by Larry Shoe, minister of the church.

Burial will be at Tecumseh Cemetery under the direction of Elliott's Funeral Home.

Mr. Barton was born Oct 18, 1884, in the same community where he died. He married Jewel Lisman in 1919 in Dudley. He was a member of the Highway 36 Church of Christ.

Survivors includes his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Harvey T. Wise, Rt. 3, Abilene; two sons, Orlan of the home, and Howard, of Baird; a sister, Mrs. C. W. Wilkerson of Abilene; two brothers, Seth of Lubbock, and Homer of Lawn; and five grandchildren.

Mr. Barton had been in ill health for some time.

Active pallbearers will be Harry Franklin, Gene Franklin, Cecil Windham, James Lawrence, Bill Lawrence, and Allen Hodges.
