Dorothy Ruth Brown Wood, of Sturkie, Ark., daughter of the late Wayne Solomon and Sophia Giertz Brown was born July 14, 1913, at Kingman, Kan. She died Aug. 12, 2003, at Salem,at the age of 90 years. Ruth married James Clough Wood Sept. 21, 1931, at Kingman, Kan., and to this union five children were born. She spent her working years as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother and a homemaker. She was a member of Bay Creek Baptist Church at Sturkie.

Survivors are three sons -- Roy Wood and wife, Trilbia, of Eldon, Mo., Owen Wood and wife, Carolyn, of Overbrook, Kan., and James Wood and wife, Martha, of Sturkie; two daughters -- Dorothy Turrell and husband, Don, of Bull Shoals, and Sophia Norman and husband, Gil, of Sturkie; two brothers -- Edward Brown of Kingman, Ariz., and Bill Brown of Kingman, Kan.; a sister, Betty Glickler of Bradenton, Fla.; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a brother, Henry Brown, and three sisters -- Wilda Christopher, Helen Bumgarners and Francis Carson.

The funeral was Aug. 15 at Barker Funeral Home Chapel in Salem with John Hodges officiating. Burial was in Stateline Cemetery in Moko, Ark., with arrangements by Barker Funeral Home in Salem.

Pallbearers were Terry Wood, Brent Wood, Jimmy Wood, Rex Norman, Michael Turrell and Keith Turrell. Honorary pallbearers were Ron Wood and Lale Brown.
