Mary Leticia Marker was born on 14 May 1877 to Francis Marion and Margaret "Maggie" Bever Marker. There were seven siblings in her family. They were Charles Marion, Laura Alice (Alberson), James S., Orval Isaac, Minnie Margaret(Forney and Kleis), Noah and George.

Mary Leticia Marker married Harvey Anthony "Harve' Smith on 9 December 1895 in Jay County, Indiana. Their marriage was not a happy one, but there was one daughter born of their union. Lucinda Opal Smith Simmons lived a happy life and raised nine living children. Her father came for a visit in 1938 and died while there in July 1938. He is buried in the Frisco Cemetery in Frisco, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma in an unmarked grave.
