Francis Marion Marker was born on 2 May 1854 in Preble County, Ohio to Daniel and Lucinda Nine Marker. The family moved to Jay County, Indiana prior to the 1860 Census. It was there that Francis married Margaret "Maggie" Bever on 10 December 1875, daughter of Solomon L. and Mary Blair Bever. His tombtone has initials F. M. or M. F. Marker, but his full name is Francis Marion Marker.

There were eight children born of this union prior to the death of Maggie Bever Marker on 26 January 1893 in Nottingham Township, Wells County, Indiana. She is buried in the Stahl Cemetery next to their son, James S. Marker. Her brother, Isaac Bever is also buried in this cemetery and he has a tombstone. Her mother Mary Blair Bever, Guess, Croy is also buried in this cemetery, but does not have a tombstone.

The children are: Mary Leticia (Smith), Charles Marion, Laura Alice (Alberson), James S. (dies at age 10), Orval Isaac, Minnie M. (Forney), Noah and George.
