Mrs. Carter, 83, Dies at Van Vleet

Funeral services were conducted from the Van Vleet Methodist Church Wednesday morning at 10 o'clock for Mrs. Anna Shaw Carter, age 83, who died at her home in Van Vleet early Monday evening. She had been in failing health for some time, and ill for the past seven months.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Crawford Ray, pastor of the Houlka Methodist Church; the Rev. L C Jorgensen, pastor of the Houston Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. S P Ashmore of Aberdeen, district superintendent of the Aberdeen district.

Interment was in the Ashbury Cemetery with Houston Funeral Home in charge.

Pallbearers were: Hugh Lee Peden, Bill Clements, Robert Ashby, Turner Ray, Howard Ray and Thomas Davis.

Mrs. Carter was a lifelong resident of Chickasaw county and had spent her entire life at Van Vleet, where she was a devout member of the Van Vleet Methodist Church.

She leaves two sons, P D Carter and H B Carter, both of Van Vleet, and a sister, Mrs. R L Bishop of Houston.
