HERBERT CARTER, SR. RITES ARE HELD:

Funeral Services were held at 5 pm, Thursday, August 4, 1977, at the Van Vleet Methodist Church for Herbert Byron Carter, Sr., who died at age 79, on Wednesday, August 3, at 6:30 am at the North Mississippi Medical Center in Tupelo, Miss.

He was interred in Asbury Cemetery.

The Chickasaw County Native was the Son of Adoniram Cicro Carter and Anna Dee Shaw.

He was the Owner of Carter's General Merchandise Store in Van Vleet.
He was affiliated with the Van Vleet Methodist Church.

He was the Husband of Mrs. Grace Wessels Carter of Van Vleet.

He is also survived by two Sons, H. B. Carter, Jr., and Larry, both of Van Vleet; a Daughter, Mrs. Carolyn Hill of New Albany; 10 Grandchildren and seven Great Grandchildren.

He was also a Member of the County Board of Directors of the Bank of Mississippi.

Pallbearers were James Medlin, Mike Gaddis, Terry Rhodes, Earl Carter and Rev. Jerry Watts.
