The Rev. Marshall McQueen officiated and burial was in Restland Cemetery.
Born Oct. 24, 1923 in Winnsboro, La., Mr. Sharpe died Friday, Oct. 9, at his Carthage home.
Mr. Sharpe moved to Carthage in 1962 from Marshall, and in 1963 founded Sharpe Electric Company. The successful business has conducted electrical contracting throughout the East Texas area.
A member of the Panola County Airport Authority, Mr. Sharpe was instrumental both in leadership and personal resources in the improvements seen in the Panola County Airport in the last five years.
The avid flier was to have been commissioned Oct. 10 as a Colonel in the Confederate Air Force.
Mr. Sharpe was a current director of the Panola County Chamber of Commerce. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Joyce Sharpe of Carthage; three sons, Rod Sharpe, Kevin Sharpe and Patrick Sharpe, all of Carthage; one daughter, Mrs. Toni Smith of Carthage; two brothers, John D. Sharpe of Marshall and A.V. Sharpe of Tallulah, La.; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred McCready of Monroe, La. and Claudine Osborne of Tallulah, La.; and five grandchildren.
