NUMBERED WITH THE DEAD // Mrs. J. J. Heckel Passes Away
Mrs. Elizabeth J. Heckel died of la grippo at her home in Long Creek township on Tuesday night, Feb. 21 at 11:15 o'clock, aged 68 years, 9 months and 9 days. For some time past Mrs. Heckel has suffered with heart trouble and asthma, and about a week ago was seized with an attack of the grip, which speedily assumed a malignant form and with other complications caused her death. Mrs. Heckel was born in Harden county, Ky., and was a daughter of James Hanks. She came to Decatur as an infant and lived to a ripe old age and gained the esteem and love of a wide circle of Acquaintances who will regret to hear of her death. Her venerable husband is now seriously ill and it is thought that he cannot survive. Mrs. Heckel's death is the first to occur in the family. Her children are Mrs. George W. Veech of Oakley; Mrs. A. J. Veech, of Oakley; Mrs. Charles Sconce, Iowa; J. W. Heckel, Bethany; Miss Sadie Heckel, J. I. Heckel, Irven J. Heckel and Orlando Heckel, at home, and C. A. Heckel, of Eureka, Ill.
