WIFE DIES SOON AFTER HUSBAND

Samuel N. Beamer Passed Away Tuesday And His ' Spouse Wednesday

Gettysburg, Pa., July 15. A companionship of fifty-four years was broken by death Tuesday morning:, but death reunited the aged couple last evening. Samuel N. Beamer, formerly head machinist of the Reaser furniture factory, who had been making his home at Bendersville since Aprl, was taken seriously ill Saturday night. He had been caring for his wife, who had been ill for several days with diabetes, and was averse to leave her, but on Monday his conditon became acute and he was rushed to the Warner hospital and operated upon immediately, but his malady had made such headway that he succumbed early Tuesday morning.

His wife lapsed into a coma Sunday and was unaware of the absence of her husband. She failed to raily from her unconscious state, but at the height of her delirium called for her helpmate, who was already dead. Yesterday her condition took a turn for the worse and late last evening she succumbed.

Mr. Beamer was buried at Bender's church cemetery this afternoon after services at the Methodist Episcopal church of Bendersville, with Rev S. J. Pittenger, York Springs, officiating. On Sunday afternoon the same minister will conduct last rites for Mrs. Beamer at the same church. Mrs. Beamer was 73 years old and was born at Cavetown, Md., the daughter of Reuben and Susan Layming This is the second time In the history of the Beamer family that husband preceded wife in death by a margin of only two days.
