News of the death of J.N. Stone, aged 61, formerly street commissioner in Wichita, reached Mr. Stone's relatives in this city yesterday. Mr. Stone was one of the old settlers of Wichita, coming to the west in 1873. He was street commissioner under Ben Aldrich and J.P. Allen, when these old timers were mayors. He left Wichita 23 years ago, going to Los Angeles. He had been a road superintendent of Los Angeles county for many years and held that office at his death.

He is survived by a widow and one daughter, Mrs. Leota Green. His aged father and mother, Mr. and Mrs. J.R. Stone, 3701 East Central, are residents of this city as are his two sisters, Mrs. B.W. Aldrich, 3700 East Douglas avenue, and Miss Laura Stone, 3701 East Central avenue.
