Mrs. Cassie Shearer, Near Brodbeck, Dies
Brodbeck – Mrs. Cassie Sterner Shearer, 77, widow of Noah A. Shearer, Brodbeck RD 1, near here, died yesterday at 8 a.m. in Hanover General Hospital where she had been a patient for five days. Death followed a stroke she suffered a week ago.
A life-long resident of this area, Mrs. Shearer was a member of the Lutheran congregation of Stone Church, the Sunday school and the Women's Missionary society.
Surviving are: Seven children, Mrs. Kenneth Smith, here; Raymond and Rev. N. Carroll Shearer, both of Brodbeck RD 1; Mrs. Noah Rohrbaugh, Hanover; Mrs. Edward Zartman, Dover RD 4; Mrs. Pius Stough, Glenville, and Wilford Shearer, Lineboro, Md.; 16 grandchildren, six great grandchildren, a brother, Dewey Sterner, Harrisburg, and two sisters, Mrs. John Deitzler, Annville, and Mrs. Samuel Krout, Harrisburg.
Her pastor, Rev. Dr. Kenneth S. Ehrhart, assisted by Rev. Franklin F. Glassmoyer, pastor of Lischey's Reformed charge, will officiate at funeral services tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Stone Church. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery. Funeral Directors H. C. Geiple and Son, Glen Rock, are in charge of arrangements.
