Headline: Henry W. Edwards Dies in Ferriday

Final rites for Henry W. Edwards, 59 year old Ferriday resident, were held Tuesday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Shirley Briggs conducting the services, assisted by the Rev. J. H. Hamilton and the Rev. J. O. McNair. Burial followed in the Ferriday Cemetery under the direction of Young's Funeral Home.

A retired barber, Mr. Edwards died Monday in a New Orleans hospital after a lengthy illness. He was a native of Jena but had lived in Ferriday for about 30 years. He had wide family connections in Jena and Jonesville and in LaSalle and Catahoula parishes.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Annie Edwards of Ferriday; two daughters, Mrs. H. T. Young of Jonesville and Mrs. Joseph Lawless of Ferriday; a son, Henry, Jr., of Ferriday; two sisters, Mrs. Charlie Walker of Jonesville and Mrs. Sally Murphy of Jena, and two brothers, Tom and Eugene (Genie), both of Jena.

Pallbearers serving at the final rites were T. M. Wilson, Jr., Bernard McGlothin, Marcus Schuchs, Lonnie Hall, Johnny Enterkin, B. C. Carruthers, Austin Wilson and Noah Cross.

I'm not sure if the tombstone in the Jena Cemetery is just a memorial marker and his burial site is Ferriday cemetery as the obit says or if they decided to change the burial site to Jena Cemetery.
