Grandmother was a widow, for the entire time I knew her. Her husband, James, passed away September 10, 1962.

Grandmother was a great friend of the community. She was a member of the St Pete Yacht Club, Maas Brothers (where she took me many times for lunch), and was well known with the local bus drivers.

When I was a boy, many times, we would get on the bus at 66th Street / 1st Ave N ... and ride with the bus - its entire route ... getting off when we arrived back at 66th Street / 1st Ave N (2 hour ride).

Grandmother's house was a 4 bedroom / 4 bath house, with an attic, basement, and a detached 5-car garage (converted into a 2 room apartment with the remaining 3 garages next to it, and a maid's 2 bedroom apartment built above those 3 garages). 2 of the garages were converted into a 1 bedroom/1 bath apartment - which is where I used to live, when I attended St Pete Junior College.

Grandmother's house is located here. A little history ... when Grandmother passed away in 1988, her daughter, Mary Longshore, inherited the house. She sold the 2 Story, 4 BR/ 4 BA with lakefront boathouse for $250,000. When she sold it, it was renovated into the house it is today. It is in a neighborhood of $200,000 - $400,000 valued properties.

Across from her house, on Sunset Dr N, she also owned a boathouse. When grandfather was alive, they had a boat in this boathouse (Grandfather passed-away about 10 months before I was adopted by Grandmother's daughter, Ann and her husband Gene in June, 1963), so I didn't ever get to meet Grandfather. But I do remember, of the times I spent in that boathouse, I never saw, or knew of a boat, that was moared in that boathouse.

When I used to live with Grandmother, 3 houses down, was where her sister-in-law, Aunt Edna lived. I used to spend a lot of time at Aunt Edna's house, watching tv. I always kept her central air conditioning at a nice 72 degrees.

When I went out to California in January, 1985, to try and forget that my step-mother and Dad didn't want to reestablish a relationship with me ... Grandmother and I wrote letters to each other (I still have all of them). In one of them, she told me that Aunt Edna passed away in June, 1985.

Grandfather and grandmother had two daughters: Mary and Ann. Grandmother had one brother, Julius. Grandmother had a sister-in-law, Gwynne Dulin-Nottingham (Julius' first wife).
