Louis Theophalus Pippin was born to John William and Delia Alduth Shelton Pippin. Louis had eight siblings and they were Francis Marion "Amos", Ira W., Pearl Missouri, Gilbert, Vinnie Lee, David Washington, Annie Mae, Unice Sebena Pippin.

Louis served his country as a CPL in the U.S. Army, during WWI, from April 1, 1917 and Auguast 6, 1920.

In 1926, Louis married Erlene Priester and together they had three children and they were Gloria, Billy Marie and Wright Patman Pippin.
