Of New Castle, DE, went to be with The Lord on Saturday, October 4, 2008, surrounded by her loving family at the age of 81.
Helen was born and raised in Braxton County, WV, the daughter of the late James and Eva Spaur and has made New Castle her home for the past 43 years. She enjoyed arts and crafts and making Christmas cookies for her grandchildren. Helen's heart belonged to her family. She took great pride in being a homemaker and loving her family.
Helen's beloved husband of 60 years, Charles I. Clifton went to be with The Lord in 2004. She will be dearly missed by her family, sons, Charles J. Clifton and his wife, Cathy of Dover, DE, Richard A. Clifton of New Castle, DE, Johnny L. Clifton and his wife, Beth of New Castle, DE, Argil R. Clifton of Earlville, MD and daughter-in-law, Linda Clifton; sisters, Phyllis Shaw, Dorothy Woods, Norman Jean Harrison and Emma Wilson. Helen was also Mom Mom to 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Helen was predeceased by brothers, Kenneth Spaur, Billy Spaur, twin brothers, Harley and Arley Spaur and sister, Wilma Sage.
Family and friends are invited to Helen's viewing and visitation with her family on Wednesday October 8, from 7-9 pm, at GEBHART FUNERAL HOME OF NEW CASTLE, 531 Delaware Street, New Castle, DE (302) 328-2312. There will be another viewing on Thursday morning in the chapel of Gracelawn Memorial Park, DuPont Highway and I-295, New Castle from 10-11 am, where her funeral service will be at 11 am. Interment will follow in the adjoining memorial park.
