Phyllis Louise Spaur Shaw, 89, of Sutton passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2023, at Clay Health Care Center.
She was born November 12, 1933, in Burnsville, WV to the late James Anthony Spaur and Eva Barnette Spaur.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Grant Shaw, Jr.; twin brothers, Arley and Harley Spaur; brothers, William Spaur and Kenneth Spaur; sisters, Helen Clifton and Wilma Sage.
Phyllis was a homemaker, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family. Phyllis was very talented in her quilting and sewing skills. She was a birdwatcher and she loved her cat. Watching the Gaither Family Music Videos and the Evangelists on the television were her favorite pastimes. She was a devout Christian by faith and she attended the Spruce Lick Methodist Church.
Left to cherish her memories are her sons; William Anthony "Tony" Shaw (Peggy E.) of Delaware and Michael "Mike" Shaw (Peggy S.) of Summersville; sisters Dorothy Wood of Birch River and Norma (Bill) Harrison of New Castle, Delaware; and 10 grandchildren. She is also survived by several great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral was held Friday, March 24, 2023, at Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Reverend Russell Shaw officiating. Interment followed in the Barnett Cemetery, Bug Ridge, Sutton.
Visitation wase one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
