Harrison was the son of Peter James Basler and Mary Whitworth. He married Martha M Ruggles. They were the parents of Flossie G (1887, William Palmer)

Carroll Daily Herald - Thursday, July 10, 1930 - A. Basler received word Monday of the death of his brother, Dick Basler in Omaha. Interment was made in the the Grant City cemetery Tuesday.

Carroll Daily Herald - Friday, July 11, 1930 - Richard Basler, a former Carroll man died Sunday night in Omaha after being ill for a period of two years. The body was taken to Auburn a former home and burial made in the Grant City cemetery.

About two years ago while assisting in cutting down trees, a tree fell on Mr Basler and injured his back and he never recovered from the injury.

He is survived by an only daughter, Mrs. G.A. Palmer of Omaha, formerly Miss Florence Basler of Carroll.
