Lucille Gilliland, age 90, of Bloomington, died Saturday evening at the Richland-Bean Blossom Health Care Center in Ellettsville. Born March 19, 1918, in Monroe County, she was the daughter of Samuel Carson and Edna Mont (Hacker) Young. She retired as a cook for the Monroe County Community School Corporation and loved to travel, read and spend time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the New Prospect Baptist Church and a former member of the "Busy Martha's" Homemakers Club.

She is survived by her three sons: James E. Gilliland, Ronald L. Gilliland, and William "Larry" Gilliland, all of Bloomington; one daughter, Edna L. Gilliland, of Bloomington; two sisters: Wilma Pelley, of Bloomington and Freida Buckner, of Melbourne, Florida; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward R. Gilliland, her parents, one son, Melvin Ray Gilliland, one daughter, Carolyn Sue Gilliland, in infancy, and one brother, Chester Young.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Day Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. James Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Payne Cemetery.
