William was the son of William M. Douthit and Sarah Jobe. His siblings were Thomas Jobe, John, Mary, James, Joseph D., Stephen, Jacob and Sarah.

He married Lovey White Cooper, daughter of Thomas Cooper and Taphenus White, on January 29, 1797 in Stokes County, North Carolina. Their children were Thomas J., James, Jincy, Frances, Pauline A., Sarah H., William Gilbreath, Ann W. and Newton Charles Washington Douthit.

William was the husband of Lovey White Cooper, my 3rd great grand aunt. - Cheryle
