DIED
DIRKS - on April 26, by Pawnee Rock, Barton Co., Kansas. Spouse of the here immigrated Heinrich J. Dirks, Ministry of the Mennonites of Karolswalde, Poland, Russia, at the age of 77 years and 6 months. Four of her children preceded her into the beyond, and 10 are still living who are all family heads. It would be to hard to count all the grandchildren because one family is still in South-Russia, 4 by Pawnee Rock, 2 in McPherson County, and 2 in Dakota. Descendants are many and could go up to 75 or more persons. The desceased was highly respected by her youth to the grade by young and old. She has lived 60 years in married state. Funeral text: Jac 42:17, Luke 23:43

Susanna Isaak
Birth: 16 Sep 1809 at Jadwonin, Wolhynia, Russia
Death: 27 April 1887 at Pawnee Rock, Barton, Kansas, USA 1
Daughter of Peter and Catharine Isaak
Heinrich and Susanna Dircks immigrated to America in 1874 and arrived on the SS City of London in New York harbor on November 18, 1874 with many of their 14 children and their families and were processed through what was then known as Castle Garden on the Hudson River.
It has been passed down over the years that Susanna Dirks died from her injuries after falling from a moving train that had not quite come to a full stop.
Heinrich survived Susanna and passed on in March 1, 1893 at Pawnee Rock, Kansas several years later than Susanna. It was further discovered that after Susanna's passing Heinrich came to visit his two son's Heinrich and Benjamin Dirks living at Marion, South Dakota. These notes were in his grand daughters diary of Maria Dirks Koehn. It has been researched and I believe they are buried in the older section of the Dundee cemetery at Great Bend, Kansas or in the Bergthal Mennonite cemetery at Pawnee Rock, Kansas in unmarked graves. G.g.g. Grandson Bob Dirks
Marriage 1 Heinrich J Dirks, Minister
b: 20 May 1808 in Jadwonin, Wolhynia, Russia
Susanna's parents were Peter and Catherine Isaak. There are no known siblings on Susanna's side of the family.
Missing Children mentioned on memorial.
1. Eva Dirks died at age 2 in 1841 at Karolswalde, Russia
2. Maria Dirks married Heinrich Jantz and settled near Montezuma, Kansas
