Howard Lester Haggard, 75, State Road 135 North, died on Friday, January 7, 1983 at Morgan County Memorial Hospital. A Brown County native, Haggard was born on November 28, 1907 to George and Bina Sosby Haggard. A World War II Army veteran, Haggard married Catherine Rachel Merriman on December 2, 1961 and she survives. He retired from carpentry and construction work in 1969. Other survivors are three step children, Paul, Robert, and Mary Williams all of Indianapolis; two brothers, Fremont Haggard, Nashville, and Alvin Haggard, Morgantown; three sisters, Opal Walker and Dorothy Smith, both of Morgantown, and Leona Helton, Indianapolis; and nine step-grandchildren. Rev. Norman Cromer officiated at the funeral on Tuesday at Meredith-Clark Funeral Home. Burial was at East Hill Cemetery. Jan. 12, 1983
